Join the Montebello Historical Society on March 7th, 2026, for our Baseball Day celebration honoring local sports legend Marge “Poncho” Villa Cryan, a trailblazer in women’s baseball and Montebello history.

At just 14 years old, Marge joined the Orange Lionettes in 1940, playing under the name “Maggie Villa.” That same season, the team captured the Southern California championship, marking an important chapter in early women’s athletics and community pride.

This special event celebrates Marge’s legacy and the broader history of women in sports. Visitors can explore historical displays about the Lionettes, and learn about Montebello’s local baseball heritage!
